(Utica, NY) New York DeMolay is pleased to announce the Ridgewood DeMolay Fund for Excellence Grants.
Ridgewood Chapter Order of DeMolay No 1281 was established in August of 1928 and functioned for many decades. When they closed, they left a Certificate of Deposit that was recovered by New York DeMolay. In consultation with senior leaders of DeMolay and the approval of the Most Worshipful Richard J. Kessler, Grand Master of Masons, the proceeds from this Certificate of Deposit will be used to make grants to support activities at the regional and chapter level focused on membership development, membership retention, United Masonic Youth, or other special projects. The award of the grant is at the sole discretion of New York DeMolay.
Steps:
Step 1: The Chapter should develop an idea. Something they think will move their chapter forward in big way.
Step 2: The Chapter should vote on the idea at a meeting and the youth leaders working with their advisors should research and put together a proposal. Think about the costs involved and what you are trying to accomplish.
Step 3: Complete the application and send it in. NY DeMolay may ask follow-up questions. This is a good thing that will help you to improve your overall application and process.
Use your imagination and think about what we can do to ensure success!

Below are some FAQs:
Who should complete the grant application?
Ideally this is a team effort with youth and adults working on it together. In DeMolay we learn by doing.
Who can apply?
A Chapter, a Region, a Priory or a Manor are all eligible to apply.
How far in advance of our event does the grant application need to be submitted?
We would ask that a grant request be put together at least four weeks before the funding is needed. If you need it sooner please reach out to the Executive Officer.
How long does it take for a grant application to be decided?
Ideally the decision should take a week or less. If there are missing details or questions that can add to the length.
How will we be notified of the acceptance or decline of our request for a grant?
We will notify you via email.
What can we do to increase our chapter's chances of having our request for a grant accepted?
Put together a solid proposal and ask questions along the way about what will make the best and strongest application.
The best applications bring people together and show DeMolay at its best!
Once a request is approved, how are the grant funds paid and to whom?
Grants may be paid out to a vendor or a chapter directly. We can send grants via check or via PayPal, or an ACH to a vendor.
How long does it take to receive the grant funds?
From approval to payout can take a few hours for PayPal, or a couple of days for a mailed check.
Can our Chapter apply for more than one grant?
Yes, your chapter or region can apply for more than one grant.
Is there a report required after the event?
Yes, there is an after-action report and accounting that is needed 30 days at the end of the event.
Are partial grants possible?
Yes, we may not be able to fund the entire grant but we may be able to fuind part of it.
What cannot be funded?
It goes without saying, but we cannot fund events involving anything prohibited at DeMolay. We also cannot fund direct grants to charities. However, if the chapter is planning on holding a fundraiser to support a charity and it needs help with getting it set up that would be acceptable.
