Countdown Day 5: We Reimagined State Events

2020 saw us reimagining each one of our state events!

WinterFest 2020: Was Epic!  The State Executive Committee brainstormed what would be the most amazing thing to do in the winter? Why not go to a Water Park!  The State gathered for fun in the sun at Great Escape, made dog toys for a local shelter, had an omgamazing Chinese Buffett, and rented out an amusement center for our exclusive use!  Thank you to event Chairmen Austin Altman and Michael Jordan, along with WinterFest Advisor, “Dad” Eric Evarts.

Convention 2020: This year we planned three conventions.  One was a four day in person tour de force at Camp Turk that would have made last year look like a knitting convention. The second was a two day in person convention in Utica. As COVID worsened, the decision was made to go remote. DeMolay doesn’t stop, and neither did convention.  Live from New York! It’s New York DeMolay convention. State Master Councilor Austin Altman presided in a socially distanced Grand Lodge room from New York City, Deputy State Master Councilor Michael Jordan was on from Buffalo, NY and everyone from across the state.  DeMolays were able to vote, debate and do the business of the State Chapter from their homes. Fun events included Scribble.io, and a Murder Mystery. Great job by the State Executive Committee on planning!   Thanks to “Mom” Draves, “Dad” Draves, MJ and Pearl each DeMolay received a care package. Thanks to “Mom” Altman and Br. Austin Altman, each DeMolay received a convention shirt and a DeMolay Handbook!

LeadCon 2020: DeMolay went virtual for LeadCon 2020! With our theme of  S.H.I.E.L.D Skills we focused on event planning, public speaking, making positive decisions, ritual skills, and brining together Masonic Youth.  We also had a fun night of DeMolay Kahoot hosted by President of DeMolay Canada “Dad” Ernie Loiselle.  We were able to bring in a number of outside speakers to help share information and present great information. Thank you to event Chairmen Br. Michael Jordan and Br. Brian Ramos and LeadCon advisor “Dad” Schneider and Assistant Advisor “Dad” Alvarado
